Tow Routes

Depending upon the final design concept, substantial topside or substructure tows may be required to bring hardware to site.

Tow route studies typically focus on winds and waves, to assist in:

  • Selection of tow vessels
  • Selection of tow route
  • Design of sea fastenings
  • Estimation of impact on fatigue life.

The final issue is often very important, as a substantial portion of fatigue resistance may be exhausted during a tow.
